A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Niyi Akintola, has said the era of political thuggery and establishment of what he described as ‘garrison politics’, has been dismantled through the astuteness and ingenuity of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s government in Oyo State.
Niyi Akintola Akintola, an All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship aspirant, promised to build on the legacies of Ajimobi’s government if given the opportunity to serve. He warned the APC against making a mistake of fielding a wrong candidate for the 2019 governorship election. He said:
“The electorate is now wiser and knew who and what qualities they want in their governor,” he said. Akintola had unveiled his ambition for the Oyo governorship seat on the platform of the APC. Speaking in Ado Ekiti, weekend, Akintola said:
“If you look at the circumstance of our state before Senator Ajimobi came, one will be forced to appreciate his contributions. He has dismantled the garrison politics cartel in Oyo.
“In fact, life was brutish and hectic under PDP in Oyo State and our governor has addressed this and is adding value to the extent that our government is no longer being a government of the illiterates for the elites. “Before he came, Oyo even had a garrison commander, who fomented trouble every day.
Ajimobi has succeeded in banishing thuggery, hooliganism and killing from Oyo and I am ready to build on these values and legacies if given the opportunity,” he said.
