Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho says Sunday’s 2-0 win over Real Zaragoza in a La Liga Segunda division clash was a perfect gift for him on his 20th birthday from his teammates.
Uzoho was born October 28, 1998, in Nwagele, Imo State kept his consecutive clean sheet for Elche this season in Sunday’s win at the Manuel Martínez Valero stadium.
Goals from Gonzalo Verdu and Nino secured a third win of the season for Elche.
Real Zaragoza had a chance to half the deficit in the 87th minute but Uzoho made an outstanding goal-line save to keep a clean sheet in his second La Liga Segunda start.
“Was given one of the best birthday gifts yesterday night by my teammate… Mucho Elche + 3. Another clean sheet IN CHRIST ALONE,” Uzoho tweeted on Monday.
Uzoho, currently on a season loan deal from Deportivo de La Coruna has been preferred in goal ahead of the veteran goalkeeper José Juan since he returned from international duty this month.
The Nigerian international is expected to keep his place in the Super Eagles squad for next month’s top of the table clash against South Africa at the FNB stadium in Johanessburg.
