Man Accused Of Stealing Cement Jumps Into Lagoon

A man who was reportedly accused of stealing some bags of cement has jumped into the lagoon through the Ikoyi Link Bridge.

The man, identified as Azeez was said to have been trailed by his accuser on Friday morning when he suddenly jumped into the lagoon.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Sunday, stated that a senior official of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported the incident.

Hundeyin said, “He (the LASEMA official) received a call that there was an accident at Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.”

The police image maker continued, “On getting there, he met a large crowd gathered by the waterside watching the lifeless body of a man, who was later identified as Azeez.”

“He was later confirmed dead by the paramedics of the Pre-Hospital Care, Lagos. It was discovered that one Elijah was pursuing the deceased before he jumped into the lagoon.”

According to the Lagos State Police image maker, “He was alleged to have stolen some bags of cement.”

The scene of the accident was promptly visited by the police, who removed the corpse and deposited it at the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.”
