UNIBEN Staff Commits Suicide Over Hardship

A staff of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), simply Identified as Mr. Carter Oshodin, has reportedly committed suicide as a result of non-payment of salaries in line with the no-work-no-pay policy of the Federal Government.

Before his death, Oshodin was said to be working with the data entry unit of the university and had solicited financial assistance from his colleagues in school last Friday.

It was learnt that the father of two, took the extreme action due to his dire financial situation as he could no longer withstand the sight of seeing his children going hungry anymore especially now that schools have been scheduled to resume next week.
