Sexagenarian In Court Over Burglary

Adedayo Aloja, 61, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate court for burglary.

The charge sheet read in court disclosed that the accused person conspired to commit felony to wit, shop breaking and stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code law of Osun state.

It disclosed that the accused person broke into a wine store belonging to one Omotade Damilola to commit felony and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 414 of the state criminal law.

It also disclosed that the accused person stole drug items, beverages and toiletries, all valued at N223,300 contrary to section 383(1) and punishable under section 390(9) of the site penal code.

It further disclosed that the accused person stole another property of Kolawole Cecilia valued N443,500 contrary to section 383(1) and punishable under section 390(9) of the state law.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person committed the offence on August 10, 2016 and June 2, 2017 at Temidire area of Osogbo and  Ora Igbomina in Oke-Ila respectively.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.

The defence counsel, Mr. Okobe Najite urged the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Police prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi did not oppose the bail application.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mary Awodele granted bail to the accused person in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each.

She then adjourned the matter till January 8, 2018.
