Reps Rejects Exhortbitant Acceptance Fees By Tertiary Institutions

The House of Representatives has called on tertiary institutions in the country to address the exhorbitant acceptance fee of successful admission seekers.

The House of Representatives considered the development as an obstacle to the smooth process of entry into Nigeria tertiary institutions.

The Green Chamber argued that instead of subjecting admission seekers to such financial constraints, there is need for Government at all levels to properly fund Nigerians public schools as this will further moderate the excessive drive for Internally Generated Revenue at the expense of Nigerians.

The representatives at their proceedings have ordered the Tertiary Institution and Services committee of the house to investigate the exhorbitant acceptance fees charged by the institutions in respect to a motion raised by Hon. Julius Ihonvbere from Edo State.

The Parliament collectively adopted the motion and gave the committee four weeks to carry out the assignment and report back for legislative action.
