Police Arrest Six Over Killing Of Community Chief In Ora

At least, six person have been arrested in connection with the death of Chief Oladepo Asaolu, Babaloja of Ora Igbomina who was declared missing few days ago.

As gathered, Sunday Johnson, a motor cyclist who is also a tenant to Chief Asaolu went to pick him up on 5th October 2022 around 5am and left for farm.

Johnson had sold Chief Asaolu to his gang members and arranged for his (Asaolu) kidnapping.

Getting to the farm, Asaolu was killed by the gang of six men in his farm around Akisa.

The whereabouts of Chief Asaolu became worrisome after he was not seen around the usual time he was to back from farm.

After four days of surveillance and intensified efforts by the police, Johnson who later confessed to the crime was arrested in connection with the development.

He confessed to have killed the man alongside other members of their gang. He took the police and detectives to the venue where they deposited the dead body.

The police spokesperson in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident. She said the case has been transfered to SCID for further investigation and proper arraignment.

Meanwhile, yesterday night, the remains of Chief Asaolu was taken to General Hospital Omun Aran for embalment, unfortunately it was rejected on the ground that the body is already decomposing.

Speaking, one of the family members, Kayode Adekunle said police have asked that the body be brought to Osogbo for proper investigation and documentation.

Adekunle said, “The body was rejected at the general hospital, Omun Aran, and it was taken back to Ora around 2am this morning. The police has asked us to bring the body to Osogbo this morning for investigation and documentation.”
