The Deputy Chief Whip, State of Osun House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi, has congratulated Muslims in the state on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr celebrations.

The lawmaker representing Ayedire state constituency, tasked citizens to embrace peace as the country grapples with its numerous challenges.

Ogunkanmi gave the admonition while speaking to journalists in his hometown, Ileogbo, headquarters of Ayedire local government on Thursday.

While reflecting on the good tidings of Ramadan, the parliamentarian called for prayers against disunity, unrest, crime and all other vices hindering the stability of the country.

According to Ogunkanmi, ”We desperately need God’s intervention in view of the challenges facing the nation.”

He further urged all citizens to be fair to one another and seek restoration through repentance, humility and love.

He condemned the May 7 bloody tussle between Iwo and Ileogbo causing clashes at Oke Saaji and Ashalu over a disputed land.

He however, urged the people of the two towns to always maintain peaceful co-existence for the progress of the two communities.

“The nation is in torrent times. We cannot afford to disunite and break away. We must all join hands in prayers for the continued progress and peace of Nigeria. Nigeria is ours. We must not let it fall.

“Amidst these challenges, some of the positives we are getting in Economy, Health, Social Safety and Infrastructure are pointers to the fact that Nigeria remains indivisible and indissolible. With prayers, Nigeria will be great again. Eid Mubarak!,” the lawmaker concluded.
