Government of the State of Osun has released and spent a total sum of N700 million so far on community development projects through the state Community and Social Development Programme.
The General Manager of the state CSDP, Mrs Funmi Abokede made this disclosure during an interview in Osogbo on Wednesday.
According to her, the sum was the summation of money released since the inception of the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola administration, adding that the sum was released as government counterpart contribution to CSDP projects in the state.
She noted that the money has however been spent of various community development interventions in line with the Aregbesola administration’s six-point integration action plan.
Abokede, while rolling out the feat the Osun CSDP has achieved so far, said the organisation has met and advocated for the adoption of community-driven development approach which ensures that communities play significant roles, adding that it has also ensured ownership participation and social inclusiveness.
She lauded the state governor for the giant strides recorded in all facets of life, especially in the area of infrastructural development as well as keying into the Community-driven Development (CDD) approach of the CSDP.
The General Manager of Osun CSDP implored government at all levels to adopt the CDD approach to ensure sustainable development.
