Council Boss Lays Foundation For 80 Lock-up, 160 Open Shops

As part of his administration’s commitment to develop the economic power and to improve the commercial activities of Olorunda Local Government, the Executive Secretary, Hon. Hakeem Olapade has laid the foundation for 80 lock-up shops and 160 open shops at Sabo Market Area, Osogbo, State Of Osun.

According to a statement by the Information Officer of the Council, Goke Mutiu, the building is named “Rauf Aregbesola Ultra Modern Market”.

Laying the foundation, the council boss said, the structure was necessary to further boost economic activities in the council and in turn improve the IGR.

He commended Governor Rauf Aregbessola for providing enabling environment to foster rapid growth and development within the state, saying, the construction of the market was in line with the Six-point Integral Action Plans of the state government in the area of Urban Renewal Programme.

The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engineer Kazeem Salam who represented the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Titi Laoye-Tomori at the ceremony charged the residents of the council to support and cooperate with the present administration, with a view to achieving landmark achievements.

In their separate remarks, the National President Of Osogbo Progressive Union, Alhaji Rasaq Siyanbola; the Ajagunna Of Osogboland, High Chief Gabriel Oparanti; the Iyaloja General of Osun, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade and All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Olorunda Local Government, Mr. Biodun Kilanko noted that the market would increase revenue generation capacity of the council which will give room for more developmental projects in the council area.

In his own remarks, the Council Manager, Mr. Toyese Ogundiji said that the project would be properly monitored.

This just as the contractor handling the projects, Mr. Ogunfunminiyi assured that the projects is expected to be completed within the next two months.
