The management of Osun State University Teaching Hospital has disclosed that the incident that happened at the Accident and Emergency unit of the hospital on Thursday morning was a power surge and not a fire outbreak.
Osun Defender had in the morning quoted a source in the hospital that there was a fire incident at the Accident and Emergency unit of the hospital with patients scampering for safety.
But a statement signed by the Head of Department, Corporate Affairs of the Hospital, Chistie Oyewole, noted that there was actually an electrical power surge at the switch box of the Accident and Emergency department of the Hospital.
The statement further stated that the issue was immediately rectified by the Works and Maintenance Department of the Hospital.
“The incidence did not result in fire outbreak as reported by the Osun Defender and no patient or staff was affected in any way.”
