Remo Stars striker Victor Mbaoma has said that the top-flight newcomers have permanently left the bottom of the league log.

The Sky Blue Stars beat Nasarawa United 1-0 on Sunday in a top-flight matchday 24 clashes in Sagamu to climb away from the bottom of the table, where the club have been for almost the entire duration of the ongoing top-flight.

Mbaoma said his side’s focus right now is on continuing to gather points to help them move away from the danger zone.

“It has been a harrowing experience being at the bottom of the league table all this while in the ongoing top-flight.

“It’s a huge relief on all of us to leave the bottom spot after the hard-fought victory against Nasarawa United on Sunday.

“Right now we can feel it inside of us that we have left for good the bottom-placed position.

“Our catchword is forward ever backwards never we will continue to work very hard to sustain the momentum to see ourselves completely out of the drop zone.

“We still believe strongly that we will beat the drop at the end of the on-going Nigerian top-flight.

“We sincerely hope and pray not to go back to the bottom again as it will be simply devastating,” said the Remo Stars marksman to supersport.com.

Mbaoma said the reigning champions, Enugu Rangers have proven that it is possible to earn points at El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

“Rangers have just led the way of the possibility of the decent result at El Kanemi Warriors we will queue in and chance a good result against the side in Maiduguri on Sunday.

“We are now a child of opportunity, we will work hard and simply make ourselves available to grab what destiny has in stock for us,” said Mbaoma.

The Remo outfit is 19th on the 20-team top-flight on 26 points 19 behind league leaders, Plateau United.
