Three Men Docked Over Alleged N6.3m Fraud

The Osun State police command last Monday arraigned three men before a magistrate court in Osogbo over alleged fraud of N6.3 million.

The trio suspects are Kamilu Abayomi, 25, Bakare Abibu, 22, and Hameed Adekola, 44.

The prosecutor, Inspector Rasaq Lamidi  said that the suspects conspired among themselves to defraud one Adeosun Funmilayo the sum of N6.3 million with pretence to do a business transaction with her.

He said the suspects collected the total sum of N6.3 million from the complainant before they were traced and later arrested by the police intelligence units.

Rasaq Lamidi said the trio charmed Funmilayo to collect her money without her consciousness.

The prosecutor said the offence committed contravenes sections 86(2), 516, 419, 383(390),and 381 punishable under section 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun,2003.

The accused persons are facing five-count charge bothering on fraud, theft, attempt to kill and conspiracy.

Defence Counsel, Mr Bola Ige, prayed the magistrate to grant his client’s bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Awodele, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties each in the same sum.

The sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and an affidavit of means.

She said one of the sureties must be a civil servants on grade level 15 ,while the other a closed relatives to the accused persons.

The case was adjourned to August 27 for hearing
