Chelsea’s champions winning coach, Thomas Tuchel has signed a two-year extension to his Chelsea contract, six days after winning the Champions League.

The German tactician arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, after the club sacked club legend, Frank Lampard as head coach.

He signed an initial 18-month deal with the possibility of an extension.

Tuchel is now expected to be in charge until June 2024.

The 47-year-old guided Chelsea to a fourth-place finish in the Premier League during the 2020/21 season and also reached the FA Cup final, where his side were beaten 1-0 by Leicester City at Wembley before winning the lucrative champions league trophy.

Reacting, Tuchel told the club’s official website: “I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.

“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.”
