The Osun Progressive has inaugurated its chapter in Ede South Local Government Area of the State of Osun.
The inauguration took place at the Adventist School Ede on Saturday June 5, 2021.

The former commissioner for Local Government Affairs in the State of Osun, Hon. Kolapo Alimi, who coordinated the inauguration praised the political sagacity of the former governor of the state of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

He maintained that, without the efforts of Rauf Aregbesola there would be nothing like progressive politicking in the state.

He recalled with nostalgia, the political terrain under the PDP administration of Governor Oyinlola and the strenuous efforts it took in revamping, re-energizing and re-awakening the progressive party to what it is in the state today.

Alimi claimed that unfortunately, the fortunes of the party is seriously dwindling, and that members of TOP, like all right thinking party stakeholders are out to arrest the decline.

According to him, the objectives of TOP include, canvassing the promotion of internal democracy, effective and efficient party management, remobilisation, reconciliation and networking the party for development, ensuring transparency and accountability in party management.

Other objectives of the group include promotion of equity, fairness and justice within the rank and file of members, ensuring a level playing field for members and initiating programmes that will that bring members into the fore of the party activities.

He said, “In 2014, we contested against military and police might, yet we won with over one hundred thousand votes. However, we won the present mandate in Osun with just over four hundred votes, we can’t fold our arms and assume that all is well, else our party might go back to the barricade.”

The former commissioner described those antagonising former governor, Rauf Aregbesola as ingrates.

The former commissioner wondered why people who benefited from the sweat of Aregbesola politically will suddenly begin to antagonize him, insisting that prosperity will judge such people.

Hon. Alimi urge all APC members to be steadfast and committed to the party, insisting that everyone will eventually benefit from the party.

Notable members of TOP in Ede South Local Government who were present at the event include: Engineer Olayemi Jimoh Olatunde, Hon. Adebisi Nurein Debo, Alhaji Tirimisiyu Olaide, Pa Micheal Afolayan, Baba Shina Commanda, Hon. Sikiru Akanni and a host of others
