Teenager Kidnaps 3-Year-Old Cousin To Settle Debt In Kano
An 18-year-old teenager, Aalisu Adamu from Danbatta Kano, has been arrested by the Kano State Police, for allegedly orchestrating the abduction of his three-year-old cousin, Auwalu Aminu.
According to the police, the father of the victim, Mallam Aminu Garba Danbatta, on December 19, 2023, reported the distressing incident at the police command.
Adam was said to have contacted the family with a hidden number five days after the child’s disappearance, demanding a ransom of N1 million for the safe release of little Auwalu.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammed Usaini Gumel, said that the police swung into action after receiving the complaint and investigated the case which led to the arrest of Adamu and the rescue of the child in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
He said during interrogation, Adamu confessed to acting alone, citing financial troubles as his motivation.
He was said to planned on using the ransom to settle debts exceeding N100,000, accrued from a failed business venture.
