‘Our Son Did Not Die of Drug Overdose’, DJ Olu’s Family Says

The family of late Olugbemiga Abiodun aka DJ Olu, has debunked rumour being peddling around by malicious elements that the popular disc jockey died as a result of drug overdose.

DJ Olu was found dead in his car alongside another young man, Chime Ameachi on Saturday, with speculation that he must have died of drug related attack.

In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by the deceased father’s Media and Public Affair, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Dennis Ogunaike, described those peddling the tales as devious elements who are been sponsored to malign the integrity of the family.

The statement however pleaded with the public to disregard drug insinuations saying that deceased is a well brought up man.

DJ Olu was a close associate of hip-hop musician, David Adeleke, aka Davido, while Chime was a member of Davido’s crew.

The family statement reads; “Our attention has been drawn to sections of the media peddling unfounded and unverified stories that the late Olugbemiga Abiodun, aka DJ Olu died of drug overdose.

“We wish to categorically inform members of the Public that this is out rightly untrue, unverified and malicious.

“These tales are being peddled by devious elements acting on the instructions of their paymasters to deliberately malign the integrity of the deceased, his family and his associates.

“ ‘DJ Olu’ as he is fondly called is a well brought up son of Prince Dapo Abiodun. He is a graduate of the prestigious University of Essex, in the United Kingdom and recently secured an admission to resume for his Masters’ Degree in Business Administration at Coventry University for the 2017/2018 Academic year.

“He is highly industrious and spent his time pursuing his dreams. He found his passion in Music, pursued same diligently as a ‘Disc Jockey’ and rose quickly to become a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry to the envy of many. He equally had a large followership in the United Kingdom and the USA.

“He is the CEO of “DJ Olu Customs” a Car Supplies and Engineering Company with offices in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

“That youths all over the world may be exuberant in their approach to life may not be over emphasized, but to collude with vicious individuals to make defamatory statements capable of preempting the outcome of the ongoing inquest into the exact cause of death is rather unprofessional, unfortunate and criminal punishable by law as defined under section 373 of the criminal code.

“The family of the deceased has already issued a statement confirming the tragic and regrettable demise of Olugbemiga urging members of the public to disregard these insinuations in sections of the media about the actual cause of his death stating that the official result of the autopsy conducted will be made available as soon as it is ready.

“Until then, we urge everyone to kindly continue to pray with the family and support them in every way possible.
