A 78-year-old man, Azeez Akintunde, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly defrauding a man, Abideen Busari, of a sum of N845,000.
Akintunde, who was arraigned alongside one Taiwo Ajadi (60) before the court on Wednesday, allegedly obtained the sum on the pretence of selling three and half plot of land located beside Osun State University (UNIOSUN) campus, Osogbo to Busari.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, the accused persons committed the offence on August 20, 2021 at No 79, Layiokun Compound, Osogbo.
The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 516, 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
But the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
Defence counsel, T.B Ayodele prayed the court to admit the accused persons to bail on a liberal term, noting that they are presumed innocent until the contrary is proven.
In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Abayomi Ajala, admitted the accused persons to bail in sum of N1,000,000 and a surety each.
The case was adjourned till June 6, 2022 for hearing.
