A 31-year-old spare parts dealer, Uchena Nwankwo, has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing motor parts from three different vehicles.

Nwankwo was alleged to have stolen two Toyota Corolla Tapping Buttons, Brain Box, Lexus ES350 Car Stereo belonging to one Egunjobi Olawunmi, Temitope David and Maruf Adewale all valued the sum of N542,000.

He was also accused of unlawfully damaging the side glass of the two Corolla Cars and the Lexus ES350 in an attempt to enter the vehicles by force.

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the accused persons and others at large committed the offence between October 22 and 23, 2021 at about 10:00pm at Adetunji Estate, Osogbo.

But Nwankwo pleaded not guilty to a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage and stealing levelled against him.

Defence counsel, Tunbosun Oladipupo, applied for the bail of the accused persons in the most liberal term, promising that he will not jump bail and would provide reliable surety.

However, Magistrate Dr. Olusegun Ayilara requested for a formal bail application from the defence counsel, just as he ordered that the defendant be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.

The case was adjourned till November 5, 2021 for ruling on bail.
