Three individuals lost their lives, and five others sustained injuries in a tragic road accident involving final-year students from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Okinni area of Osun State when a lone vehicle carrying students and a driver caught fire.

The students had been returning from an excursion to Erin Ijesa waterfall. Mrs. Elizabeth Arowosafe, the Head of Operations at Osun Emergency Medical Services And Ambulance System (OSEMSAS), confirmed the incident and reported that the injured victims were promptly transported to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

2. Osun Government Commences Rice Palliative Distribution

Starting tomorrow (Friday), the Osun State government is set to distribute the second batch of subsidized rice palliatives. Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, made this announcement in a statement obtained by Osun Defender. The statement disclosed that the distribution process has been meticulously planned by the palliative committee.

Beneficiaries will receive the rice palliatives according to a predefined timetable. In total, 5,700 bags of rice will be distributed, comprising 3,000 50kg bags from the first batch and 2,700 50kg bags from the second batch.
