Police Inspector, 2 Security Guards Shot As Robbers Invade Hotel In Ogun

The police command in Ogun on Friday said a police inspector and two security guards were shot by suspected armed robbers who invaded a hotel in Sagamu area of the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omotola Odutola disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Odutola also stated that two of the robbers were fatally wounded by policemen who responded to a distress call on the invasion of the hotel.

She stated that at about 1:00 am, a distress call was received by Sagamu division that armed hoodlums were operating at Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu.

She added that based on the report, a combined team of policemen were mobilised to the scene.

The PPRO noted that immediately the hoodlums sighted the policemen, they opened fire on them, while the policemen engaged the hoodlums.

She said that two of the hoodlums were fatally wounded while others escaped into nearby bush with bullet wounds.

“Two locally-made single barrel guns, four unexpended cartridges, 13 expended cartridges, one big scissors, 10 Android Phones.

”One Java Phone, white Toyota Venza Car with number plate BWR 123 DD Abuja were among items recovered at the scene of crime.

“One police Inspector and two Security guards were shot by the armed robbers but were rescued to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital , Sagamu for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition,” she said.

Odutola said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspected armed robbers had earlier mingled with lodgers before launching the dastard attacks.

She stated that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu had been briefed and he had ordered immediate manhunt for the fleeing suspects that escaped with bullet wounds.
