Police Arraign 2 Fish-Sellers For Alleged Fraud

Police on Wednesday arraigned two fish sellers before a magistrate’s court, sitting in Osogbo, capital of the State of Osun for alleged fraud of fish worth N241, 100.

The fish sellers, Folashade Kazeem (30) and Fatimoh Koledowo allegedly obtained fish worth the sum on credit, with a promise that they would pay back.

Kazeem reportedly obtained fish worth the sum of N143, 800 while Koledowo obtained fish worth sum of N93, 300 from one Akunwunmi Omoniyi on credit and refused to pay.

Police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the accused persons allegedly committed the offence in the month of February 2020 at Abere.

Fagboyinbo said the alleged offence contravened Sections 516 and 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The suspects, who were arraigned on a five-count charge that centred on conspiracy and fraud, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

Defense counsel, Okobe Nagite applied for the bail of the accused persons, saying that the allegations were as a result of business transaction that went awry between the suspects and the complainant.

Ruling on the bail application, the Magistrate, F.I Omisade admitted the accused persons to bail in sum of N200, 000 with two sureties.

He adjourned the case till August 27, 2020.
