Over 100 Residents Benefit From Osun First Lady’s Free Surgery

Over one hundred and ten Osun residents have benefited from a-day Free Medical Surgery sponsored by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola.

The event held at Comprehensive Health Centre, Iragbiji, in Boripe local government area of Osun State was organised by Mrs Oyetola’s pet project, IleriOluwa Development Initiative, (IOD – Initiative) to commemorate her birthday.

In her address, Mrs Oyetola urged Nigerians especially the privileged ones, to assist the vulnerable ones especially women, the aged and children with medical intervention to bring succour to those living in sorrow because of health challenges.

According to her, the program-bundle also consist of training of women engaged in vegetable farming on modern techniques of enhancing productivity in their farms.

“The feedback from these women has been very encouraging and I am happy that they have been very dedicated in ensuring that the scheme becomes a major success. The second circle of the program is expected to take off mid- year.

“Today’s program is in line with the social protection mission of IOD-Initiative. We are all familiar with the saying that Ilera l’oro meaning health is wealth. We are of the conviction in IOD-Initiative that in the provision of health, no one, I mean none of the people of our great state should be left unserved.

“We are determined to follow this doggedly especially for the benefit of our women and children.”

Also speaking, President of Hope Float Initiative, Dr. Simeon Afolayan, disclosed that the State government would before the end of the month of March, begin a free weekly surgery operations that will bring relief to many people facing various health challenges that requires surgery.

He noted that the IOD-Initiative medical intervention will be a tip of the iceberg to the massive intervention in pipeline by the Governor Gboyega Oyetola administration.
