Osun Residents Tasked On Hand Washing

State of Osun residents have been charged to make regular hand washing with soap and water a habit in order to forestall contamination and diseases borne out of dirty hands.

The Iyaloja General, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade made the charge today in Osogbo at the hand washing market sensitization, tagged ‘Our Hands, Our Future’, organized by the State Government of Osun at Igbona and Oluode markets.

Alhaja Asindemade urged households who are majorly women, to ensure that, as mothers, they inculcate the habit of regular hand washing with soap and that they pay attention to their children by impacting in them the necessary knowledge and manners for survival and avoidance of infectious diseases.

Similarly, the Aare Babaloja of Osun, Chief David Iyiola appreciated State Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for ensuring that his government is an health loving one in all ramifications.

He then used the medium to urge the government on the continuity of clearing of market waste for disposal, with the assurance that residents will continue to cooperate with the government.

Emphasizing that prevention is better than cure, the Aare Babaloja charged Osun residents to avail themselves of health facilities provided by the government.

Earlier in his speech, the Director of Sanitation and Hygiene for RUWESA, Mr. Segun Moyinoluwa affirmed that regular and proper hand washing with soap and water will safeguard against infectious diseases such as Cholera, Ebola, Monkey pox and the likes.

He maintained that regular hand washing habit with soap and water, and sensitization for the 2017 Global hand washing campaign is continuous.  He then thanked all Non-governmental organizations that partnered for the program, and also urged all to ensure cleanliness of hands for safety and prevention from contamination through hands.
