Osun Govt Lauds Osinbajo, Ajimobi Others On Southwest Regional Youth Summit


The Government of the State of Osun on Wednesday eulogized the Nigerian Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, and Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for exhibiting high sense of commitment towards the actualization of the southwest’s development agenda.

The state also extolled the tremendous impact made by the other southwest governors, the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, stakeholders, youth associations and individuals on the success of the two-day Southwest Regional Youth Summit, held in Osogbo, the state capital.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued and made available to newsmen by the Media Adviser to the Governor, Mr Sola Fasure, at the end of the weekly State Executive Council’s meeting, held at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s office, State Secretariat, Osogbo.

The Council expressed satisfaction on the impressive participatory strength and large turnout of notable personalities within and outside the region, describing the presence of Vice President at the summit as ‘encouraging’

The Council also encouraged individuals and organisations with landed property and business in the state who may not be resident to pay all due taxes on their business and landed property to avoid sanctions

The statement reads in parts: ‎ ‘‎Council received the report of the successful hosting of the Regional Youth Summit in Osogbo by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission and the State Government, between January 9 and 10, which attracted participants from all the states in the region.

‘Council commended the organisers of the summit and thanked the participants, particularly the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, who delivered the keynote address; Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the Governor of Oyo State; Ondo State Government ably represented by the state’s deputy governor; Ogun State Government that sent a delegation; and the youth organisations and individuals that attended the programme’.

The Council therefore‎ urged those who have landed property and business in the state, even if they are not resident, to fulfil their tax obligations to the state, so as to avoid running afoul of the state’s tax laws which carry severe consequences.
