The Osun State Government has advised the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, to postpone a committee meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 9, over a security threat.

According to the government, in a letter signed by Barr. Samuel Ojo, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Security Matters, some hoodlums would hijack the meeting if it were held as planned.

The government said it was necessary to postpone the meeting to allow peace to reign.

OSUN DEFENDER sighted a copy of the letter addressed to Oba Olanipekun from the Security Department of the Governor’s Office, on Wednesday.

The letter partly reads, “Consequent upon the directive of Your Majesty to the Committee for the progress of Osogbo to submit their report on Saturday 9th March 2024, intelligent report at the disposal of Security Department, Office of the Governor indicates that the proposed meeting will be hijacked by some hooligans and miscreants who held their clandestine meeting at an undisclosed location in the town.

“In view of the above, it is highly imperative to advice your Majesty that the proposed meeting on Saturday 9th March 2024 should be postponed or put on hold so as to allow peace to reign in the Community and the entire Osogbo as a whole.

“Moreover, the committee members should be advised to shelf the meeting and postpone it till further notice.”
