One Killed, Two Injured As Driver Rams Into Ondo Carnival Procession

An articulated vehicle rammed into a carnival organised by the youths of Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Tuesday, killing one person in the process.

The accident also injured two others as the annual event in the town, turned bloody when the youths attempted to protest the killing.

The driver of the J5 bus transporting passengers from the north rammed into the youths who were in procession on the street.

A source in the community said, “The unfortunate incident happened when the youths from Olokelede in Ekan Ikare were on a procession to Okela where the accident happened.

“It was in the process that the driver of the J5 bus, who was coming from the north rammed into the procession of the youth, killing one person and injuring two others who are currently in the hospital with various degrees of injury.”

Olokelede of Ekan Ikare, Olatunbosun Ayinde, who confirmed the incident blamed the driver of the vehicle for being impatient.

Ayinde while sympathising with the families of the victims, cautioned the youths to always organise themselves properly while celebrating any public event.

The injured persons according to the Unit Commander of the FRSC in Ikare, Ropo Alabi, were rushed to the hospital, attributing the accident to over-speeding.
