Ondo Govt. Frowns At Unapproved Structure

The Ondo State Government has shown his displeasure against unapproved buildings, especially filling stations in the state.

Mr. Solagbade Amodeni, the Commissioner for Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, said this on Wednesday in Ikare, headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government of the state.

Amodeni made the statement shortly after leading a team on inspection to many proposed sites for filling stations in Ikare Akoko and environs to ascertain the level of conformity with the physical planning laws.

The commissioner encouraged all developers to always make recourse to the ministry before altering their initial approved plans.

“It is part of government’s effort to restore sanity to the state and make the environment hazard-free. “We moved to sites to confirm the compatibility of proposed intentions with the existing land-use and environment.

“We visited a site intended for a gas station at Ikare to confirm its recommendation status and we considered it feasible and functional for the proposed intention going by its location on the outskirt of the town.

“Also the site is free from the built-up environment and does not in any way pose threat to lives,’’ he said. The team also inspected another existing site in Owo, where the developer who had already been granted approval for a petrol station.

Amondeni advised people to always abide by the rules and regulations guiding building plans in the state.
