1: Four Injured as Osun Speaker’s Convoy Involved in Road Accident

Four policemen in the convoy of the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, were on Sunday involved in a road accident.

Osun Defender gathered that the incident happened around the Dagbolu area of the state while the speaker was en route to Inisa, Odo-Otin Local Government area of the state.

It was learned that only one of the convoy’s vehicles conveying policemen was involved in the accident.

Confirming the incident, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Olamide Tiamiyu, said the affected vehicle had flat tires while moving, causing the accident.

2: Olojo Festival: I Will Pray for an Economic Turnaround During Seclusion – Ooni

Ahead of going into seclusion for this year’s Olojo festival, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has said he would be praying for a turnaround of the current hardship experienced in the country due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

Ooni said this while speaking with newsmen in his palace on Sunday in preparation for seclusion as part of the Olojo rites.

Osun Defender reports that the Olojo Festival grand finale will be held this Saturday, September 30, 2023.

He said, “I will use the medium to pray for African Unity and movement, for the actualization of Pan Africanism. We, therefore, as stakeholders, must play our roles to ensure that Africa as a continent speaks in unity.”

3: Olufon Stool: Ruling House Wants Adeleke to Probe “Kangaroo Process”

The Oluyeyin Ruling House of Ifon, Orolu Local Government of Osun State, has reacted as the state Government stopped the selection process for the emergence of a new Olufon of Ifon.

OSUN DEFENDER recalls that Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to put a stop to the process with immediate effect, noting that due process must be followed in the selection.

According to sources within the government, it was revealed that Adeleke was furious about how the process is being handled, saying he will not agree to anything that will not be acceptable to the people.

The sources said, “Mr. Governor has directed both the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Special Adviser to make sure that they put a stop to the process. The Governor told them that whoever is found culpable of trying to sabotage the process will be thoroughly dealt with.”
