Six persons were on Tuesday feared killed during a clash between rival cults at Tusokun, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the fight, which started in the early hours of Tuesday, lasted for many hours.
The clash reportedly involved members of the Eiye and Aiye confraternities.
“The two cults engaged in reprisals over the killing of their members in the area.
“The two groups, as we speak, have lost three members each,” a source said.
The development caused panic among residents, who scampered for safety.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said the police had arrested some of the perpetrators.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, also confirmed the incident.
Makama, while parading some suspects at the command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, said no fewer than 14 persons had been arrested in connection with the clash.
He, however, noted that he was aware of only one death.
He added that he had not been fully briefed about the incident.
