OAU Inaugurates Students’ Union Officers

Authorities of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile Ife on Wednesday inaugurated the elected officers of the Great Ife Students’ Union for the 2022/2023 academic session.

The inauguration took place at the Afrika Amphitheatre in the University with the presence of the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Simeon Bamire, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor O.M.A Daramola.

Others are the Dean of Division of Students Affairs, Professor Isiaka Aransi, former Union officers as well as representatives from faculties, departments, divisions and units of the University.

The Dean, Division of Students Affairs, Prof. Aransi, while delivering the welcome speech of the event, addressed that the Union officers should be diligent and make proper consultations in order not to make the wrong move during the course of discharging their constitutional duties.

The University Vice-Chancellor charged the newly inaugurated officers to be very professional in the discharge of their duties.

He urged the new inaugurated students’ leaders to always allow peace to reign and go into dialogue instead of engaging in radical moves that can cause violence.

On his part, the newly inaugurated Students’ Union President, Ojo Abbas Akinremi, popularly known as LordFem, while appreciating fellow students promised the gatherings that his administration will be an all-inclusive one.

He commended the University management for the success of the last election, which produced him.

Akinremi promised that the welfare of students would be his priority. He noted that welfare includes: security and protection of students within and outside campus.

The student union leader pledged to always ready to listen to the yearnings and suggestions of all students.

Certificates of service and awards were presented by the management of the university to the immediate past students union officers for their good conducts during their administration.
