The police, on Thursday, failed to carry out a directive by the Kaduna state Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, To arrest some northern youths, who issued a three-month ultimatum for the Igbo resident in the area to quit the region.

Governors of the 19 Northern States of the federation yesterday disowned a coalition of Arewa Youths who reportedly issued an ultimatum to Igbos to vacate the Northern part of the country within three months or forced to leave.

The House of Representatives on Thursday condemned in strong terms the stand of the 16 northern youth groups and Indigenous People of Biafra and called on both parties to rescind their decision.

Igbo quit notice: Police begin manhunt for signatories

Following Governor El-Rufai’s directive, the police in Kaduna said a manhunt has been launched for the signatories to the statement.  The manhunt, according to the police, is backed by the order given by Kaduna State government to have them arrested.
