The Federal Government has set up a seven-man committee to investigate the bullying incident at the Lead British International School, Abuja.
Osun Defender reports that Busayo Oluwole Oke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Oriade/Obokun in Osun State is the chairman and proprietor of the school.
In an interview on Arise Television on Sunday, the Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Sununu, disclosed that the Ministry of Education would oversee the committee and take action following the completion of the investigation.

He expressed that “depending on the gravity,” bullying could lead to “an outright termination of appointment and expulsion.”
He said, “The ministry has guidelines for all those. You see, when one is confirmed that he has done (bullying), depending on the gravity, it can lead to an outright termination of appointment and expulsion.
“And once that’s done now, we’ll also follow it up with prosecution because it’s right. You see, it now becomes a civil offence.
“Even in this case, we have to set up a committee and we’ve constituted a seven-man committee.”
He said the committee members are technocrats in the field of education and have a lot of experience in the profession.
He added: “They’re technocrats in the field of education. They’ve garnered so much experience to be able to uncover whether there’s negligence on the part of the school or not.”
Osun Defender recalls that there is an outrage on social media following the alleged bullying of a female student of the school.
An X user, @mooyeeeeeee, in an SOS post accompanied by two videos on Monday night, is seeking justice for the female student and to stop bullying in society.
In one of the videos, the victim was seen being slapped repeatedly by another female student while asking “Who broke my heart?”.
In another video, the victim was seen sitting next to a male classmate who was heard saying “I spoilt her relationship”.
Following the development, some netizens took to social media to condemn the incident and called on the school to punish the perpetrators.
