The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC) Osun Chapter has given Governor Adegboyega Oyetola 3-day ultimatum to embark on the construction of the approved 1klm roads in all government own institutions in the state.

This is as the students body berated the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Hon. Remi Omowaye and the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs and Mobilisation, Mr. Kehinde Ayantunji for their negligence towards the issue since the approval of the roads in December, 2020.

The students accused Omowaye as a bad ambassador of the present administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, claiming that he lacks respect for students community.

NANS in a signed by the Chairman, Public Relations Officer, Secretary, Comrade Afeez Oyewole, Comrade Sulaimon Adekanmi, Comrade Salaudeen Abeebulah and all Students Union Government presidents of the seven Government own institutions in the state.

The students frowns at state of institutions in the state, noting that conditions of the roads are posing greater threat to the welfarism of students.

The statement reads: “NANS JCC Osun Axis under the leadership of Comrade Afeez Oyelayo Oyewole lauds His Excellency Governor Gboyega Oyetola on successful completion of many impactful, productive and life bettering projects, which has been of positive impact on live of Osun citizens, while on the same vein condemn in strong terms, the attitude of present administration towards execution of the approved 1km road.

‘’Comfortable learning environment’’ remains the bedrock of sound education and excellent academic performance of students.

“The present situation in Osun-State education sector doesn’t give credence to the above assertion. We are not oblivious of unquantifiable asperity students are facing as a result of bad road, which poses greater threat to their adequate welfarism and make them extremely vulnerable.

“We are not unmindful of the present administration commitment to quality and affordable education, but, it’s imperative to note that the 1km road was approved December 2020 which its execution is still hanging in the air, it now seems to us that forever is required for the execution of road that is meant to aggrandize our students welfarism and quench their thirst for good road, while we are conscious of ‘’many ongoing projects’’ that their approval came after our own which their cost implications is probably more than that of ours, typical example of just concluded ‘’ILORO ROAD’’ in Ile-Ife, ‘’Famia 1.9km road in modakeke’’ and many other notable projects.

‘’We wouldn’t have been so worried if we have clueless leader at the helms of affairs.

“We wouldn’t have been so troubled, if the condition of the road that links to ‘’Abeere’’ is the same as the one that links to Faculty of engineering in Oscotech and Oscohealth Ilesha campus road network.

“What troubles our mind is the immeasurable confidence we have in present day administration, subject to the known fact that ‘’His Excellency Governor Oyetola is round peg in round hole’’.

“Why should our students be subjected to unaccustomed psychological turmoil as a result of bad road ???Why should students with health challenges most specifically.

‘’asthmatic patients’’ among students be dreading of attending lecture due to eventualities that may arise as a result of bad road ???.

“It’s perplexing, sardonic and regrettable that present State own institutions road networks doesn’t suit passage for animal, talk-less of human being. The present road situation is unbearable for our students and it’s gradually becoming a death trap, hence it needs a grave attention from government .

“We condemn in strong terms the careless attitude of SSA to Governor on Students matter, Commissioner for Education and Commissioner for work ‘’Hon Remi Omowaiye’’ on the issue of road. It’s necessary to state that He, Hon Remi Omowaiye is bad ambassador of present administration as he lacks respect for students community and shows no concerns on the issue of 1km road, despite the direct attachment to his office.

“In respect to unanimous position of both NANS JCC leadership and Students union president, we give Osun State government 72HRS ultimatum to commence execution of the approved road.

“We would not hesitate to mobilize armless battalion of students right proponents down to the state capital, if our demand is not actualized”.
