Pretoria West police has launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death last month.
Kenneth Mothlathlego Chewe, is on the run after he stabbed his girlfriend with a knife on 25 July, said police spokesperson Constable Sibongile Vuma.
“He stabbed her in the neck before rushing her to the Pretoria West hospital. On his way to the hospital, he took along the girlfriend’s niece,” she said.
“The niece remained at the hospital while Chewe went back to the house where he took his girlfriend’s car and clothes before driving away.”
Vuma said the next day, the vehicle (an Opel Corza) was spotted by Botlokwa police in Sekgoses village.
“The vehicle was traced to an unknown house, but no one was found.”
It was rumoured the suspect could have crossed the border and went to Botswana, she said. Vuma said Chewe often drove a black Honda Edix with Botswana registration number B754AXL. The owner of the vehicle resides in Broadhurst, Gaborone. Another vehicle Chewe is in possession of is a gold Toyota Fortuner with registration number B182AWS.
Vuma urged people to help catch the suspect. Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Molelekeng.
