Man Remanded In Prison For Stealing N1.5m Bus

The charge sheet showed that the accused person stole one Mazda Bus valued N1.5m property of one Mr Adewole Akanmu.

It revealed that the offence was committed by the accused person in November, 2013 at the back of Mallam Tope Area, Osogbo .

The offence committed according to the charge sheet is contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390 [9] of the criminal code cap 34 Vol II laws of Osun state of Nigeria 2003.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

Luqman Adeleke, the defence counsel applied for the bail of the accused person, saying the suspect is an ulcer patient and he needs medical attention, saying, despite that he had been detained by the police for a week.

The prosecutor, Inspector Jafani Muslim objected to the bail application, arguing that the suspect has committed a similar case at Ekiti State and the officers are looking for him.

The presiding magistrate, R.A Olayemi ordered the remand of the accused person and adjourned the matter to February 25 for hearing.

He then directed the prosecutor to provide all witnesses on the next adjournment date, saying, if the prosecutor fails to bring the witnesses to court on the adjourned date, he would grant the accused person bail.
