Man Impersonates Company Owner To Steal N6.3m

A 47-year-old man, Olaitan Bashiru has been
arraigned before a Magistrate court, sitting
in Osogbo, the capital of the State of Osun, for allegedly stealing a sum of N6, 300,000.

Olaitan was accused of fraudulently obtaining the sum on the pretence of being the owner of Powerex Nigeria Limited.

According to the charge, the offence was committed between the months of June and September 2018 in Osogbo.

The offence was contrary to and punishable under Sections 390 and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

The defendant, who was arraigned on two-count charge of fraud and stealing, pleaded not guilty.

Defence Counsel, Mr Soji Oyetayo applied for the bail of the accused person in the most liberal terms.

Prosecutor, Mr Oladiran Ayodele who is the Legal Officer of Zone XI, opposed the bail application on the ground that the defendant might jump bail, stating that he had absconded after granted administrative bail before he was later arrested.

Ayodele added that there was a pending forgery case against the defendant.

Ruling on the bail application, Magistrate AdebolaAjanaku admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties.

The case was adjourned till December 19, 2019 for hearing.
