Man In Court For Stealing Blocks, Damaging Fence

The Osun State Police command has arraigned a 45-year-old Akeem Badmus before an Osogbo magistrate court for maliciously destroying a fence.

Badmus is facing a six-count charge of malicious damage, assault, unlawful entry and stealing.

Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Soyemi Bose told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 9 at about 9:00pm at Oluode area, off Ayekale, Osogbo.

Sergeant Bose said the accused maliciously destroyed the fence of a land by pulling down the blocks and unlawfully damaged 4 survey pillars with total value of N750,000 property of Gafari Akorede Olabiyi.

She disclosed further that the accused unlawful assaulted one Gafari Akorede, Trimisiyu Saka and Tajudeen Ajia by using back of cutlass to beat them all over their bodies which caused bodily injuries on them

Bose said the accused also stole 2000 blocks belonging to Gafari, valued N260,000 on the same land where the fence was destroyed.

She said that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under Section 516,451, 356, and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol. II laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge preferred against him.

Defence counsel, Okobe Najite prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms, saying reliable sureties will be provided.

The magistrate, M.A Awodele granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned to June 4 for mention.
