Man In Court Over Reckless Driving
An Osogbo Magistrate Court presided over by Magistrate Fatimoh Sodamade has arraigned a 29 years old, Solomon Olayinka Anifowose over alleged reckless driving, assault and damage of property.
According to the charge sheet the accused person committed the offences on October 25, 2017 between 7:15am to 8:00am at Ita-Olokan Area of Osogbo.
It stated that the accused person being the driver in charge of DAF Truck with the registration number LEW 465 XA property of Clip Company, Imo, Ilesa drove on the public highway in a manner dangerous to the public safety contrary to and punishable under section 18[1] of RTA cap 113 vol 5 laws of osun state of Nigeria 2003.
It also disclosed that the accused drove the same vehicle and unlawfully damaged one Toyota Camry car with the registration number EKY 554 CU property of one Mr. Segun Oluwafemi at Adeleke, Owode Ilesa road contrary to and punishable under section 18(1) of RTA cap 115 vol 6 laws of osun state of Nigeria 2003.
It further stated that along Dugbe police station, Old Garage at about 8:00 am, the accused drove in a dangerous manner and failed to obey police hand and signs contrary to and punishable under section 18(1) of RTA cap 113 vol ii laws of osun state of Nigeria 2003.
The charge sheet further stated that the accused drove the aforementioned vehicle on the highway without having driving license contrary to and punishable under section 79(1) of RTA laws of osun state of Nigeria 2003.
Also, along Sabo junction the accused assaulted one Sergeant Murtala Alayande while performing his lawful duty by giving him fist blow, tore his police uniform contrary to section 356 of criminal law of osun state.
The accused person pleaded not guilty of the five count charges leveled against him
The defense counsel, Mrs Adeyinka Dada urged the court to admit the suspect to bail in the most liberal term adding that he will not abuse the privilege and the prosecutor, Sergeant Ajayi Sunday did not opposed the bail application.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Fatimoh Sodamade admit the accused person to bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety and adjourned the case to December 7, 2017 for hearing.
