Kwara NSCDC Launches Manhunt For Suspected Spare Parts Thieves

The command has launched a manhunt for two other members of the gang, spokesman of the command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, disclosed in a statement in Ilorin on Thursday.

The three arrested suspects, are Dauda Wasiu, 17, Qowiyu Kareem, 18 and Daud Bello, 18.

The spokesman, said the suspects specialise in stealing engines and other motor parts of vehicles parked at mechanics workshops.

Two other members of the gang are Dada Durojaye and Jamiu Fawaz, now at large and declared wanted by the command.

” The gang members are fond of allegedly raiding mechanics workshops and garages to steal engines of vehicles and other motor parts after closing hours of work by the mechanics.”

” On Sunday, October 24, 2021, a complaint was lodged by one Yusuf Muritala about missing vehicle engine and other motor parts, where they are kept.

” Names of the suspects were mentioned,” the spokesman stated.

Babawale, disclosed that three of the suspects were later rounded up at their hideouts at Offa motor park, Ilorin.

The two other members of the gang, have been placed on the wanted list of the command.

He said one of the suspects, Dauda Wasiu confessed stealing the motor engine, adding that he was paid two thousand naira only after the operation.
