A Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo (popularly called Sunday Igboho) has said he and those who believe in his cause will always defend the Yoruba race from aggressors.

He said time had come for the actualisation of the Yoruba nation. The activist noted that there was no basis for “one Nigeria” when insecurity was spreading to the Southwest.

According to him, the only solution is for the Yoruba nation to stand on its own.
Igboho said these at a media briefing captured in a viral video on Thursday 18th March 2021.

The activist reiterated his stance on repelling the attacks by killer herdsmen in the Southwest.

“Starting from now, we don’t want herdsmen in our land to disturb our farms again. If we meet any killer herdsmen, we are going to face and destroy them.

“If any police attack us for that, we are ready for them. We don’t want Nigeria again but the Yoruba nation. There is no essence for one Nigeria when the major resources in the country are in the hands of the northerners.

“Enough is enough. There is no going back… We are not scared of anybody. These killer herders are taking over our land and they are killing our people,” he said.

Igboho carpeted the Federal Government for sidelining the Yoruba race in major appointments.

The activist affirmed that he had the backing of Yoruba monarchs and elders for his action.
