IGP Idris Visits Ooni To Ensure Bloodshed Free Elections

The Inspector General Of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to Ooni Of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwunsi to ensure a smooth and bloodshed free elections in the country.

Prominent traditional rulers in the ancient city and notable indigenes of Ife joined the Ooni to receive the IGP with his entourage.

Security was beefed up around the Ooni’s palace at Enuwa in Ile Ife as an armoured personal carrier, armed policemen and other security agents were stationed at the entrance.

Cultural troupes, entertainers and drummers from Ile Ife started drumming, singing and dancing inside the hall where the number one police officer of Nigeria was received.

Addressing the gathering, the IGP lauded the monarch role for taking tradition and cultures into his priority as a veritable tool for economic growth in Yoruba land.

He appreciated the state government of Osun for the cooperation for its cooperation..

The police boss promised Nigerians that the fast approaching governorship election in Osun and next year general election will be free and credible.

In his remarks, the Ooni of Ife thanked the IGP for working assiduously to ensure peace in Nigeria.

According to the monarch, “We thank you the IGP for your support to ensure that things are well put in place in this nation. I thank you for preparing down for us to have a stakeholders forum for the forthcoming election that will hold in Osun. We pray for a peaceful election.

He called on the IGP to ensure that the next governor emerges through a peaceful atmosphere devoid of bias.

Ooni Ogunwunsi urged the police boss to use all it takes to ensure that the next presidential election free of violence.

The Monarch charged youths to refrain from things that can truncate the electoral process.

” I use this medium to implore all youths of this state and this nation that they should remember that when it is bad, it is the youths they will call, and when it is good, are you sure they will call you?, the monarch questioned.

Oba Ogunwunsi advised Nigerians to always work in hands with constituted authorities as this will better the lives of everyone in the country.

“Let us work with our constituted authorities, they are human being like us. Let us ensure that their service to their fatherland is being executed and implemented.

” It is time for us to know that things on this country belong to all of us. We are all stakeholders in this country and it is time for us to know that.

“I thank the IGP for everything he has been doing. You can only do your best, you can’t satisfy the whole world. But you will do your best and your best will always speak for you. Focus your service to your father’s land and everything will be well with you.” Ooni said.

The monarch further called on !meaning Nigerians to stop using their mouth to tarnish the image of the police.
