The performance and moves of the new Ministers appointed by President Bola Tinubu tops the reportage of major National Newspapers today, August 26, 2023 in Nigeria.
After taking oaths of office on Monday, August 21, the new members of the Federal Executive Council swung to work, with many of them resuming immediately to their respective ministries.
The Newspapers are reporting that while some including the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, Finance Minister, Wale Edun, Senator David Umahi (Works) have noticeably began work, others especially those with new Ministries are yet to know where and who they will work.
While some are yet to know the directors they will work with, others are yet to get office spaces.
Also, NIGERIAN TRIBUNE and THE NATION report that the head of the junta in Niger Republic, Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani, yesterday signed two decrees authorising Burkina Faso and Mali to intervene militarily on Nigeriene territory should the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) make good its threat to move in troops to restore democracy.
It also expelled the ambassadors of Nigeria, Germany and France and told them to leave Niamey within 48 hours.
ECOWAS warned the junta yesterday that it was not too late for the puschists to reconsider their action.
