Harvest Of Laurels For OSUN DEFENDER @ 2020 NUJ Awards

Journalists with this medium shone at the Dinner and Award Night organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council last Thursday.

The OSUN DEFENDER journalists won two awards: Best Investigative Reporter and Best Reporter of the Year, out of the three categories meant for the print media.

Winner for the third category which was Best Photo Journalist of the Year was, however, not declared by the judges.

The two OSUN DEFENDER journalists are: Ismaeel Uthman, Deputy Editor and Solomon Odeniyi, a Senior Reporter.

Uthman won the Best Investigative Reporter of the Year; Odeniyi clinched the Best Reporter of the Year award for the print media.

Some of the entries submitted by Uthman for the investigative reporter category included the uncovering of Hazardous Telecommunications Mast at Ijebu-Ijesa, the abandonment of the Cocoa Processing Industry, Ede, the baby factory at Ilesa, among others.

The awards were a reward to the several quality and people-oriented stories published by this paper in recent times.

Apart from the awards, there have been commendations from people within and outside the state and country. Also, some agencies have sought partnership with the paper.

POther awards include: Reporter of the Year (Electronics) won by Lekan Akindoju of Rave FM, Newscaster of the Year (Radio) Mrs. Omolade Olanipekun of Unique FM, Ilesa, Best Newscaster of the Year (TV), Oluchi Amuda of OSBC, Best Reporter (Electronic), Olalekan Akindoju of Rave FM, Olawumi Bukola Popoola emerged the Best Information officer of the Year and Niyi Folorunsho of ON TV just as Rave FM won the Radio station of the year.
