Four Catholic Priests Kidnapped In Delta

The Police in Delta State have confirmed the kidnap of four Catholic Reverend Fathers by unknown gunmen around Umutu/Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Though sources claimed that the four priests were abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen, the Police said the identity of those behind the abduction were unknown.

The priests, who were said to be heading to Benin from Warri in a convoy, were reportedly waylaid on Tuesday by the arms-wielding hoodlums and were whisked to an unknown location.

The state commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, who confirmed the abduction to The PUNCH on Wednesday, assured that the kidnapped priests would be rescued.

Our correspondent gathered that vehicles conveying the priests had been rescued by the team of anti-kidnapping policemen drafted from Delta and Edo states.
