The residents of Ogunleye Street, off Adekunle Kuye Street, Kilo Bus Stop Surulere have been thrown into mourning following a fire incident that claimed the life of a whole family. The fire gutted a stretch of buildings at the Surulere area of Lagos and wiped out an entire family as the father, mother and their three children were all burnt to death.
Although the patriarch of the family was initially brought out alive and rushed to the hospital, he later died due to the severity of the third degree burns he sustained.
According to an eyewitness account, the family was the sole casualty of the fire as they were sleeping in their shop, instead of going home to spend the night.
As at press time, the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, and it also burnt other shops as the fire was said to have started from the deceased family’s shop.
