The embattled former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Elrufai, was on Saturday absent as one of his sons, Bello Elrufai, APC, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives took a second wife.
This is coming on the heels of Mr. Elrufai’s troubled bid to get clearance for his ministerial position in the cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Sources in the know informed Osun Defender that the former governor who may have jettisoned his ambition to serve in the current administration, and travelled abroad for undisclosed private engagements.
This may explain his noticeable absence during yesterday’s ceremony to celebrate the marriage of Bello to his new bride, Aisha Habibu. Mr. Elrufai instead sent the Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Uba Sani to represent him at the event.
Governor Uba in a tweet posted early Sunday morning, stated that he was standing in as the father of the groom at the wedding ceremony.
“I wish them a happy married life and I pray that Allah make theirs amongst the best,” the Governor stated.
Bello in 2015 married his first wife, Kamilah in Kaduna. Kamila’s aunt, Maryam is the wife of the former Head of State, Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida. He concluded the Islamic and traditional rites of his second marriage three months after winning his election as Member-elect and three weeks before taking Oath of Office as member representing Kaduna North in the House of Representatives in Kaduna on the 19th of May, 2023.
