No fewer than three states have declared Friday as a public holiday.

Sokoto, Katsina, and Gombe states have declared Friday a public holiday.

Sokoto

Sokoto State Government has declared Friday, April 12, 2024, as a work-free day.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and made available to newsmen in the state on Thursday.

The statement said the public holiday was to enable civil servants to continue to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr with their families.

Katsina

The Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has declared Friday 12th April 2024 as work free day for the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations.

According to Governor Radda, his government has also taken this step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the Sallah celebration with their families.

The decision to declare the day also followed the good gesture of the Federal Government for extending the Eid-El-Fitr public holidays to Thursday 11th of this month.

In a Tuesday statement, the Katsina State Commissioner of Information and Culture Bala Zango quoted the governor as wishing the good people of the state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.

Gombe

The governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the extension of the three-day public holiday to Friday, April 12, 2024.

Recall that the federal government had declared Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as public holidays for the Sallah celebrations.

However, Governor Inuwa has added one day as a work-free day in his State to enable residents of the state to celebrate ‘more comfortably’.

The governor’s approval was conveyed by the office of the head of Civil Service of the State on Wednesday evening.
