THERE was a mild drama when a 38-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Omoloye, denied a written statement presented before an Osogbo Magistrate Court by the police.

Omoloye who was arraigned before the court on four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, denied the statement during a cross examination by the police prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba.

According to Omoloye, the signature on the statement was totally different from his own.

He said the statement he wrote at the State Criminal Investigation Department was not the one tendered in court.

“This is not my statement. The signature on it is not my own. I have one signature only and is the one on my bank account. The one I wrote at the state CID is different from this one”, he stated.

Omoloye also noted that the amount he wrote on his own statement was N750,000 instead of the over N1,000,000 on the one tendered before the court.

The defendant was brought to court by his former employer, NIKVIC Company Limited for diverting goods worth N3,894,713.

The case was adjourned till November 16, 2023 by the Presiding Magistrate, A.O Odeluyi, for continuation of hearing.
