Church Collapse, Adeleke Salutes Nigerian Army And Other Trending Osun News Today

Our reporter, Kazeem Badmus reports that the following items shaped the discourse today on both local, mainstream and social media.

1: Two women were reported dead on Thursday when a building used as a church around Eweta Community Primary School, Ikirun, the headquarters of the Ifelodun local government area of Osun State collapsed.

Osun Defender gathered that the deceased were among the four victims trapped under the debris while the building collapsed on Wednesday evening.

The medium learnt that the building was still under construction with workers on sight when it collapsed.

The Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun state command, Kehinde Adeleke who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said the building collapsed around 7 pm on Wednesday.

2: Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Thursday, commended the Army for shunning anti-democratic tendencies, saying democracy is a necessity for societal development.

The Governor also described the Military, especially the Army as the pillar of Nigeria’s survival as a nation.

A statement by the spokesperson to the Governor, Olawale Rasheed disclosed that the Governor spoke while hosting the Chief of Army Staff, General Taoreed Lagbaja at his country home in Ede.

He added that rather than embarking coup d’etat, the Military should engaged in democratic correction mechanism, describing the Nigerian military as a thorough bred professional service which uphold respect for the national constitution while serving as a protector of the democratic process as well as national stability.
